While
Margot Cutter did her usual thing on Saturday, fellow sophomore
Rebecca Thompson gave Colorado College a much needed lift.
Thompson returned to action after an injury-induced absence, completing the team's top-five contingent and helping the Tigers to a strong second-place finish at the 2009 CC Invitational in South Monument Valley Park.
Cutter led the pack, taking second individually in a field of 42 runners representing five schools. She clocked in with a personal course-record time of 24:55 in the 5K event. Junior Molly McGee (26:01), sophomore Devin Nadar (26:41) and sophomore Megan Hurster (26:49) claimed fourth, 10th and 12th, respectively, in the individual standings.
Thompson (26:52), who was able to begin working out only a few days earlier, was 13th.
Colby College, led by individual winner Scarla Nero, won the team title.
The Tigers return to action on Oct. 3 with meets at the University of Colorado and Oklahoma State University.
