CC Sweeps West Region Athletes of the Year

Colorado College senior Alison Mueller-Hickler and junior Will Shuflit were named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III West Region Women's and Men's Athlete of the Year, respectively.

This marks the first time in Colorado College cross country history to win the award for each gender.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.

Mueller-Hickler, From Katy, Texas, won individual titles at both the West Region Championships and the SCAC Championships before capping her season as an All-American by finishing 26th at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, S.C. She was also third at the Augustana Interregional Invitational and 12th at the Paul Short Run.

Shuflit, who won four individual titles this season, finished 16th at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, S.C., for his second consecutive All-America honor. He topped the podium at the West Region Championships, the SCAC Championships, the Paul Short Run and the Ted Castaneda Classic.
