After a solid month of non-league action, Colorado College finally kicks off the Conference USA portion of its 2009 schedule at Stewart Field this week.

The Tigers play host to Southern Methodist University at 4 p.m. (MT) Friday, then wrap up their current six-game home stand with a noon contest against the University of Tulsa on Sunday.

CC, which tied for fourth in the C-USA standings with a 6-4-1 record in league play last season, takes a 4-3-1 overall mark into Friday's match with SMU.

SMU is 2-5 for the campaign after Sunday's 6-0 loss at home to the University of Portland. The Mustangs won, 4-2, at Texas-San Antonio on Friday. Tulsa, which opens conference play at UTEP on Friday, is 3-3-2. The Golden Hurricane also split a pair of decisions last week, beating crosstown rival Oral Roberts University, 1-0, on Wednesday before falling by the same score at Northwestern State on Sunday.

Colorado College and SMU have met 15 times in the past, with CC owning a slight 8-7 edge in the rivalry after claiming a 2-1 victory in Dallas a year ago. The Tigers, who dropped a 1-0 decision at Tulsa last Sept. 28, own a 7-2-1 advantage in 10 previous encounters with the Golden Hurricane.
