Colorado College was one of 101 institutions nationwide, spanning all three NCAA divisions, to have both its women's and men's soccer programs earn the prestigious Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2008-09 school year.
The award recognizes all programs with a collective grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, on a 4.0 scale.
The CC women, who compete at the DIvision I level under head coach
Geoff Bennett, recorded a team GPA of 3.46 in '08-09. The Division III men's team, coached by
Horst Richardson, was honored after posting a 3.32 in the classroom.
A total of 582 teams – 337 women's and 145 men's – made the cut. Winners from the current academic year will be announced next January.
