View complete press release »

Traveling from the sunshine of southern Florida to the icy shores of Lake Superior in less than a week's time, Colorado College ushers in the second half of its 2009-10 league schedule this Friday and Saturday when the Tigers meet the University of Minnesota Duluth in a two-game WCHA series at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center.

Faceoff is 7:07 p.m. (CT) both nights.

CC, 12-5-3 overall and still ranked No. 3 in the nation after splitting a pair of non-conference decisions at the recent Florida College Hockey Classic, currently occupies second place in the league standings with an 8-3-3 record.

Just one point behind the front-running University of Denver, the Tigers skated to a 4-2 non-conference victory over Cornell University in Estero, Fla., on Dec. 29 but dropped a 3-2 decision to the University of Maine there the next night.

Minnesota Duluth is 12-7-1 overall and 8-5-1 in league play, good for fourth place in the WCHA, just two points behind Colorado College. Playing in the Catamount Cup in Burlington, Vt., last weekend, the Bulldogs lost 5-2 to tournament host University of Vermont in Sunday's championship game after defeating Mercyhurst College by a 6-0 count on Saturday.

Friday's series opener marks the 164th meeting between the teams in a rivalry that started on Jan. 4, 1961. Despite going just 1-4-1 in six games against UMD the last two seasons combined, all at the World Arena, CC owns an 82-75-6 all-time advantage after splitting a pair of decisions on home ice two months ago.
