Tigers fall in overtime at Houston

CC suffers first road loss of season

Continuing to sputter in the goal scoring department, Colorado College paid the price again on Friday.

The Tigers saw their four-game undefeated streak on the road screech to a halt when the University of Houston handed them a 1-0 loss in sudden-death overtime under the lights at Robertson Stadium on the UH campus.

Houston's Courtney Peacock scored on a breakaway to end the match at 96:27, with the Cougars counter attacking after a CC corner kick.

Peacock's golden goal prevented the visitors again from claiming their first Conference USA victory of the season. Colorado College, which resumes action at Rice University on Sunday, fell to 0-2-1 in league play and 4-3-4 overall while seeing its current winless streak reach four games at 0-2-2. The Tigers have scored just once in those four outings.

"We're struggling to find the back of the net," said head coach Geoff Bennett. "Obviously, that's something we need to continue working on. We've got to keep our heads high and figure out how to finish, because we still have a lot of conference games to play."

After forcing Cougars goalkeeper Camille Koski to make five saves in the first half, CC managed just one more shot on net the rest of the way. UH finished with a 16-10 advantage overall in attempts.

"That's the hardest working Houston team we've seen," Bennett said. "They dominated us in the 50-50 department and loose balls. We had moments when we battled with them, when we were competitive, and moments when we didn't. We looked a little lethargic, but that had a lot to do with the way Houston played."

Tigers keeper Caitlin Hulyo was credited with six saves before Peacock soloed in, drew her out of the net at 22 yards and knocked the ball into a vacated net from 12 yards away.
