Back home after four consecutive outings on the road, Colorado College aims to cash in on some Stewart Field magic this weekend and revive its post-season playoff hopes.
The Tigers, who have five matches left to climb from 10th place to at least sixth in the Conference USA standings, meet perennial power UCF (University of Central Florida) in a 4 p.m. MT contest on Friday, then play host to Southern Miss at noon MT Sunday.
CC, which snapped a five-game winless streak with a 2-1 triumph at the University of Tulsa last Friday, fell by a 3-1 count at SMU two days later to drop to 5-5-4 overall and 1-4-1 in league play.
Colorado College trails sixth-place UAB (Alabama-Birmingham), which currently occupies the final C-USA playoff slot, by only four points in the conference standings and could potentially surpass the Blazers with a pair of victories this week.
Second-place UCF, currently ranked No. 18 nationally by
Soccer America, is 9-2-3 overall and 4-0-2 in league play. Southern Miss, 3-9-2 overall, occupies the C-USA cellar with a 0-5-1 mark in conference play.
