After making contributions at both ends of the field in last weekend's shutout victories over the University of Central Florida and Southern Miss, junior defender
Beth Wright has received some well-deserved recognition.
Wright, who scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 2-0 triumph over USM, is among 12 Division I players nationwide named by
CollegeSoccer360.com to its
CS360 Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll
<http://collegesoccer360.com/awards-2010K.html>.
A team co-captain this season, she was instrumental in back-to-back defensive gems that saw the Knights and Golden Eagles combine for only 13 total shots in the two matches. Both opponents managed just three attempts on goal. UCF entered last Friday's 1-0 loss to the Tigers ranked No. 18 in the country and undefeated in Conference USA play.
Colorado College, meanwhile, climbed from 10th place in the league standings into a tie for sixth with three regular-season matches remaining. The top six advance to the C-USA post-season tournament scheduled for Nov. 3-7 in Orlando, Fla.
The Tigers, now 7-5-4 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play, resume their stretch drive this week with a pair of key outings on the road. They travel to Huntington, W.Va., for a 7 p.m. (ET) date with Marshall University on Friday, then continue on to Greenville, N.C., for a noon (ET) contest against East Carolina University on Sunday.
Marshall, which suffered a 2-0 loss at first-place University of Houston last Sunday after battling Rice University to a scoreless tie on Friday, is 4-8-3 overall and 2-5-1 in league play. East Carolina improved to 8-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in Conference USA, remaining tied with CC, by virtue of last Sunday's 2-1 victory at Rice. The Pirates lost, 2-1, at Houston on Friday.
Wright is the second Colorado College player to be honored by
CS360.com this season, joining junior goalkeeper
Caitlin Hulyo, who was named Primetime Player of the Week for the entire country on Sept. 20 after backstopping consecutive shutouts at home against the University of Northern Colorado and nationally ranked Oklahoma State University.
