Emily Perkins recorded her first career triple-double to lead Colorado College to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-23 victory over Occidental College in a showdown between two of the top three teams in the West Region on Friday night at Reid Gymnasium.
Perkins had 11 kills, 10 blocks and 10 digs as CC defeated Oxy 25-12, 25-16, 25-23 to close out Day 1 of the 2010 Marriott Colorado Springs Spike It Up Classic. Her nine block assists are a single-match high, while her 10 total blocks matches her best set two other times. 
Colorado College had a season-high 14 blocked shots, including eight from freshman middle blocker Devin Wilkinson, and held the visiting Tigers to a -.009 hitting percentage.
Senior middle blocker Erika Pirotte added 11 kills and seven digs, while junior outside hitter Sarah Schmoker 10 kills and hit .450 on 20 attacks with only one error. 
CC had 10 blocks in the first set when it raced out to a 7-1 lead and led by as many as 12 points at 20-8.
Colorado College went on a 7-1 run midway through the second frame to secure a two-set lead, and then overcame a 22-20 deficit with a pair of kills from both Schmoker and Perkins before Pirotte put away the match-sealing kill. 
Sophomore libero Laura Goldsmith had a match-high 18 digs and now needs only six more to become the third play in school history to record 500 or more in a single season.
CC faces Johnson   & Wales University at noon on Saturday in the final match of the round-robin portion of the tournament. The third-place and championship matches are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
