The Colorado College volleyball team defeated Millsaps College and Austin College on Saturday to finish the first weekend of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action with a perfect 4-0 record.
The Tigers got a tougher than expected match from Millsaps College in their first match of the day. The Majors took the first set and, after CC won the next two, won the fourth to extend the match.
Colorado College took control early in the fifth set and pulled out the 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 24-26, 15-8 victory.
The Tigers were led by senior middle blocker Emily Perkins, who recorded a double-double with 21 kills and 19 digs. Meredith Ballard added 10 kills.
Senior middle blocker Erika Pirotte paced the defense with 20 digs, while freshman middle blocker Devin Wilkinson had four blocks.
Colorado College breezed past Austin College 25-18, 25-7, 25-22 to finish the weekend.
Perkins led the attack with 14 kills, while Ballard added 11.
Laura Goldsmith had a team-high 17 digs, and Perkins added three blocked shots.
The Tigers travel to Sewanee next weekend to face Centre College and DePauw on Saturday, and then Sewanee and Southwestern on Sunday.
