Tigers play to 0-0 tie with 13th-ranked OSU

CC extends undefeated streak to six games

In one of the most exciting scoreless draws imaginable, Colorado College demonstrated on Sunday that it can compete with the nation's most elite teams.

The Tigers duked it out with No. 13-ranked Oklahoma State University at Stewart Field, and with the 0-0 tie extended their undefeated streak to six games (3-0-3) while improving their overall record to 4-1-3 heading into Conference USA play next weekend.

This was no defensive battle – not even close to it. The teams combined for 45 shots, including 24 by the visiting Cowgirls, and both goalkeepers came up with a number of huge saves as the momentum shifted from one end to the other throughout the contest.

CC's Caitlin Hulyo finished with a season-high 12 stops while recording her third consecutive shutout, as well as her fifth of the season and the 15th of her collegiate career. Hulyo got a little help from the crossbar in the second overtime period, on a point-blank deflection by OSU's Whitney Wernimont, but a few minutes earlier dove to her right to steer away a free kick by Taylor Mathews from just outside the box that eluded a five-player wall.

Oklahoma State's Adrianna Franch, who was credited with seven saves, made her best one midway through the first sudden-death session when she leaped high to get a hand on Tiffany Brown's rocket from 20 yards away. Then, at the final horn, Hannah Peterson missed the net by inches after pouncing on a rebound of Brown's last-ditch attempt in front.

“That was two very good teams going at each other for 110 minutes,” said Tigers head coach Geoff Bennett. “I think a draw is a fair result. They hit a post in overtime and their keeper came up with a massive save against Tif (Brown). At the end of the day, we showed that we can play with anybody, even those that are very, very good, because that's what Oklahoma State is – a very good team.”

The Cowgirls, who now are 7-1-1 for the season and had won five consecutive decisions before Sunday's deadlock, currently are ranked No. 2 in the Central Region to go along with their Top-20 national status. Colorado College is No. 7 in the Central Region.

CC opens league play at home next Friday, playing host to the University of Memphis before taking on UAB (Alabama-Birmingham) two days later at Stewart Field.
