CC's Lyman earns national recognition

Tigers braced for trip to Utah

Brittney Lyman already has made quite a name for herself in just 24 career appearances for Colorado College.

Lyman, a sophomore forward, was one of 11 players in the nation named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's current "Team of the Week" after scoring twice to fuel last Thursday's 3-0 victory at the University of Wyoming.

Eight of her 11 tallies as a Tiger have come in the last seven outings, dating back to last fall, when she set a school record by striking five times – all in the second half – of a 5-2 triumph over UTEP in the regular-season finale. That performance earned her national Player of the Week accolades from Soccer America and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and she later was voted to the Conference-USA All-Freshman Team.

Lyman and her CC teammates, currently 2-1-1 this campaign, wrap up a four-game stretch on the road this week when they travel west for a pair of non-conference matches at Utah State University on Friday and the University of Utah on Sunday.

Colorado College, ranked No. 8 in this week's NSCAA Central Region poll, is undefeated (1-0-1) away from home so far in 2010 after following up last Thursday's triumph at Wyoming with a 1-1 tie at the University of Oklahoma on Sunday.

Utah State, a member of the Western Athletic Conference, is 2-1-2 overall. Utah, which competes in the Mountain West Conference, is 0-6.
