Blazers snap CC’s unbeaten streak

Box Score Colorado College saw its eight-game undefeated streak and share of first place in Conference USA disappear on Friday night with a 1-0 loss at UAB.

Carolyn Polcari scored the only goal of the game in the 34th minute after taking a service from Tiffini Turpin.

The Blazers held the Tigers to just five shots on goal, the fewest in a conference game this season. It marked the first time CC was kept off the scoreboard since the first game of the season.

CJ Winship stopped four shots for UAB, but the biggest save of the night came from one of her defenders who prevented Brittany Lyman from tying the game with 29 seconds remaining in the second half.

Colorado College finished with a slight edge in total shots (11-10) and corner kicks (5-4).

Hanna Berglund steered aside five of six shots for the Tigers, who slipped to 7-5-3 overall and 5-1-1 in C-USA.

UAB improved to 4-9-1 overall and 1-4-1 in league play.

Colorado College returns to action with a showdown at No. 8 Memphis on Sunday.
