Box Score Colorado College used goals by a pair of freshmen to overcome an early two-goal deficit and forge a 2-2 draw on Friday night against the University of Pittsburgh in the Pitt Soccer Classic at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
Freshman midfielder Kaeli Vandersluis tied the game during the 64th minute when her cross deflected off a Panther defender and went into the net for her first collegiate goal.
First-year forward Jaclyn Silsby started the comeback when she found the net for the first time after jumping on a loose ball in front of the Pittsburgh goal.
That tally came just 31 seconds after the Panthers' Ashley Cuba found the net for the second time in the game. Cuba gave Pitt an early lead just 6:59 into the contest and then made it 2-0 in the 30th minute.
The Tigers controlled play after the break, recording a 13-5 advantage in total shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks during the final 65 minutes. CC launched the only two shots and had the only two corners in the extra 20 minutes.
Hanna Berglund had two saves for Colorado College, while Kristna Rioux stopped six shots for the Panthers.
Colorado College is now 1-3-1, while Pitt moved to 1-2-2 on the season.
The Panthers earned a spot in Sunday's championship game by defeating CC, 4-2, in an exhibition shootout.
Colorado College faces North Carolina State on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET. The Wolfpack dropped a 3-1 decision against Penn State in the first game of the night.
