With only one victory in its last six outings, Colorado College has a golden opportunity to re-establish some momentum on friendly ice against yet another quality opponent this week.

The Tigers, who have struggled at 1-4-1 since winning seven of their first 10 games this season, wrap up a six-game home stand when they play host to the No. 4-ranked University of Minnesota in a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at the World Arena.

Faceoff is 7:37 p.m. (MT) Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday.

Both games will be telecast live regionally by Fox Sports North, with Friday's series opener also airing throughout Colorado on ROOT Sports as well as in the southwestern United States on Fox Sports Arizona.

It's the first visit for the Gophers and former CC head coach Don Lucia to Colorado Springs in more than two years, since late October of 2010, when Minnesota skated to a pair of impressive 4-1 and 9-4 victories. The teams split a pair of 2-1 decisions at Mariucci Arena last season.

Colorado College, 8-7-1 overall, is 5-3 and tied for fifth place in the WCHA standings. The Tigers, who came within 13.2 seconds of sweeping the University of North Dakota for the first time in eight years last weekend, settled for a series split when UND tied Saturday's game late in regulation then won it in overtime. CC claimed a 5-3 victory on Friday.

The Gophers, who also split a pair of 3-2 verdicts at home against the Univeristy of Nebraska Omaha last week, are 10-3-2 overall and 5-3-2 in conference play. They're currently tied for second place in the WCHA standings, three points behind league-leading Denver and just two ahead of Colorado College.

TIGER BITES: CC will not enjoy home ice again until Minnesota Duluth visits in mid-January for the only other series at the World Arena between now and late February. Before launching another home stand against archrival DU on Feb. 9, the Tigers play nine of their next 11 games on the road after this week including trips to Omaha, Grand Forks and Anchorage early in 2013...Four Colorado College players rank among the WCHA's top 11 in overall scoring heading into this week's action. William Rapuzzi and Rylan Schwartz are tied with Minnesota's Erik Haula for second, with 19 apiece (8g,11a), while Scott Winkler (10g,8a) is among four league forwards knotted for fifth, with 18. Alexander Krushelnyski, who collected a career single-game high of four (1g,3a) in last Friday's victory, is 11th with 16 (6g,10a).
