Tigers sweep Wildcats, 3-0

Colorado College extended its winning streak to four consecutive matches on Friday with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-14 sweep of Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore.
 
The 17th-ranked Tigers saw action from all 16 team members who contributed in producing the commanding 3-0 victory.
 
CC hit a combined 41 kills, posting a .210 attack percentage with only 11 errors in 143 attempts, while holding Linfield to a meager 26 kills with 21 errors on 135 attempts for a season-low .037 hitting percentage.
 
The Tigers' defense was led by senior Laura Goldsmith, who provided strong support in the back row with a team-high 29 digs. Emily Phillips, Devon Lucero and Julia Lawton also aided the defense with 11 digs apiece.
 
With the score tied 8-8 early in the first set, Kate Squires set up Kristen Liberty for a kill to help CC ignite a 7-2 run and take a 15-10 advantage.
 
The host Wildcats rallied back to within two points at 17-15, but Colorado College kept control by finishing the set with an 8-4 run.
 
CC carried its momentum into the second set with four straight kills to take a quick 4-0 advantage. The Tigers continued their dominance throughout the second set to earn a 25-16 victory.
 
With a 5-3 lead in the third set, Liberty's kill sparked an 8-1 run to produce a commanding 13-4 lead. The visitors never looked back en route to the decisive 25-14 victory that completed the sweep.
 
Outside hitters Liberty and Phillips led the CC attack with 12 and eight kills, respectively. Lucero ran the offense with 24 assists.
 
The Tigers improved to 12-4 for the season, while Llinfield dropped to 7-6.   
 
Colorado College continues play on the road as it takes on Pacific University at 6 p.m. Saturday in Forest Grove , Ore.
