CC aims to end slump at North Dakota

View complete weekly press release »

Playing its third consecutive series on the road, Colorado College shoots to snap its longest winless skid in two decades this week as the Tigers meet the University of North Dakota in a two-game WCHA set in Grand Forks, N.D.

Faceoff on the NHL-size sheet at Ralph Engelstad Arena (11,634 seating capacity) is 7:37 p.m. CT Friday and 7:07 p.m. CT Saturday.

Both games will be televised nationally by Fox College Sports Central and aired locally in areas of Colorado on Altitude 2 (Friday) and The CW (Saturday). See Tiger Bites below for more details.

The Tigers, 8-12-2 overall and 5-8-1 in WCHA play, are 0-6-1 in seven outings since their last victory – a 5-3 triumph over this week's opponwent at the World Arena on Nov. 30 – and just 1-9-2 in their last 12. They have suffered four consecutive losses after dropping a pair of decisions (8-4, 3-1) at the University of Nebraska Omaha last week. A result, CC heads to Grand Forks tied for ninth place in the league standings, just two points ahead of 11th-place Michigan Tech.

No. 7-ranked North Dakopta, which has not lost since that 5-3 defeat at the end of November, is 12-5-3 overall and 7-2-3 in conference play, good for third place.

Friday's contest marks the 226th all-time meeting between the teams in a rivalry that began almost 65 years ago, on Feb. 12, 1948. UND owns a 138-77-10 advantage in the previous 225 encounters after earning a weekend split with a 3-2 overtime victory at the World Arena back on Dec. 1.

The Tigers, who dropped a pair of one-goal decisions (7-6 and 4-3) in their last trip to Engelstad Arena in November 2011, are 4-9-3 in 16 previous appearances there overall and just 19-81-6 (.208) in 106 all-time outings in Grand Forks.

Tiger Bites: This week's series opener at North Dakota will be telecast live in the Rocky Mountain Region on Altitude 2 (Comcast channel 105 in Colorado Springs, DirecTV 682 and Dish Network 453).
