Box Score The University of Wisconsin-Stout used a 23-point performance by Haley Froehlich to pull away in the second half and record a 80-60 victory over Colorado College on Tuesday afternoon on the opening day of the 2013-14 New Year's Ball.

After the Tigers took a 41-40 lead on a Courtney Tyus jumper with 12:43 remaining in the game, Froehlich scored 14 points during a 25-10 run that put the Blue Devils in control.

Tyus, who led CC with 15 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists.

Katie Waters scored nine of her 14 points in the first half to help Colorado College stay within striking distance.

UW-Stout took an 18-12 lead when Froehlich dialed long distance for the second time with 7:13 remaining in the first half, but the Tigers clawed their way back and tied the game at 25-25 when Tyus scored in the paint with 3:07 to go.

Danielle Davis added 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds for CC, which dropped to 0-9.

Sami Schoeder and Brea Boomer scored 13 points apiece for UWS, while Kyleigh Hebert chipped in with 11.

In the first game of the day, the University of Northwestern used a balanced offense to record a 70-46 victory over St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn.

Tiffany Stubbs led the Eagles with 12 points, while Jessica Fife grabbed 16 rebounds.

Taylor Raccuglia and Kelly McNamee finished with 11 points apiece for St. Joseph's.

The tournament resumes on New Year's Day when St. Joseph's takes on UW-Stout at 1 p.m. Colorado College plays host to Northwestern at 3 p.m.
