Box Score
For 45 minutes, it looked as though Colorado College and Colorado would play to a scoreless tie for the second year in a row.
Unfortunately, freshman forward Brie Hooks struck for the game's only goal early in the second half and the Buffs used their defense to complete the 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the 2013 Colorado Cup.
Hooks got just enough of a touch on a wide shot by senior forward Anne Stuller to slide the ball inside the near post and around sophomore goalkeeper Kate Scheele in the 53rd minute.
Scheele turned aside seven shots, including five in the second half, to keep the Tigers within striking distance, but CC mustered just five shots.
Sophomore midfielder Sarah Schweiss led the Tigers with three shots, all of which were on frame.
Senior goalkeeper Annie Brunner stopped all three of the shots she faced to record her second straight shutout.
Colorado College plays its home opener next weekend when it plays host to the 2013 CC Invitational.
The Tigers face Appalachian State University on Friday at 4 p.m., and then the University of Vermont on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
