Friday's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener against Centenary College provided more of the same, however, as 11th-ranked CC improved to 13-0 overall with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-16) thumping of the Ladies (1-9). 

When the Tigers resume this weekend's SCAC divisional competition in Irving, Texas, against Austin College on Saturday, they'll be shooting to tie the all-time school record for most consecutive victories to start a season. And, if they beat the Kangaroos, they'll take aim at establishing a brand new standard in a match against host University of Dallas later in the afternoon.  

Freshman outside hitter Abbe Holtze fueled Friday's charge against Centenary, leading both teams with nine kills and a .421 attack percentage. Junior Kristen Liberty, along with sophomores Devon Lucero and Emily Phillips, added five kills apiece with setter Lucero also finishing with 19 assists.

Phillips chipped in defensively with eight digs, while sophomore Sophie Merrifield had seven.

CC hit .437 as a team, with only five errors in 75 attempts overall.
