Trinity University ended 10^th-ranked CC's school-record winning streak to start a season on Sunday, rallying from behind to claim a 3-2 (19-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 15-8) victory in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference cross-divisional play in Georgetown, Texas.
 
It was the first showdown between the volleyball rivals since the 2012 SCAC championship match, which Colorado College won in straight sets at Reid Arena. They play each other again, in regular-season action, on Oct. 27.
 
Sophomores Courtney Birkett, Lauren Hahn and Emily Phillips combined for 35 kills, including 12 apiece by Birkett and Hahn, in Sunday's early contest. Junior Randi Braak had a hand in four blocks to lead the defense.
 
Hahn, who also collected 10 digs for her second double-double in as many days, added 13 more kills as the Tigers bounced back for a 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20) triumph over Texas Lutheran immediately after the emotional loss. They headed home for next weekend's Spike It Classic with an 18-1 overall record and 5-1 mark in league play.
 
Trinity, also nicknamed the Tigers, improved to 16-3 overall and 6-0 in the SCAC.
 
Sophomore libero Sophie Merrifield recorded 29 digs in Sunday's second match, when freshman Abbe Holtze chipped in with 10 to go with her 12 kills. Merrifield earlier logged 18 digs against Trinity.

Colorado College steps outside conference play next Friday and Saturday when Hamline University, the University of La Verne and Nebraska Wesleyan University visit Reid Arena.
