Box ScoreGame Notes vs. New Hampshire (Oct. 25)Cam Spiro scored twice and No. 6 Boston College tallied four answered goals in the second period as the Eagles defeated Colorado College, 6-2, Friday night at the Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. BC improved to 2-1 while the Tigers dropped their third straight game and are now 2-3 this season.
Â
Spiro opened the scoring at the 9:53 mark of the first period when he picked up a loose puck in the slot after CC had trouble clearing the puck, moved to his left and fired a wrister from the left circle past CC netminder
Tyler Marble. Despite taking nine shots on its three power-play opportunities, CC was unable to capitalize on any of its man advantages in the first 20 minutes and finished the game 0-for-5.
Â
Junior
Cody Bradley tied things up with a 4-on-4 goal at the 3:08 mark of the second period off a nice centering pass from behind the net by
Jaccob Slavin. Slavin earned his first point of the season with some nifty stick work behind the net and set up Bradley for his team-leading third goal of the season.
Â
The Eagles poured it on the rest of the period, scoring four unanswered goals, including three within a span of 5:17. Quinn Smith started it off at the 5:25 mark when he beat Marble during a delayed penalty call against CC's
Garrett Cecere, who went to the box anyway for holding. After sophomore
Christian Heil was called for tripping, the Tigers fought off the 5-on-3, but Ryan Fitzgerald gathered his own rebound, made a slick move past Marble and snuck in a shot that made it 3-1 at the 8:39 mark.
Â
Bad luck then entered the building for CC as Noah Hanifan's centering pass from the corner appeared to deflect off senior defenseman Peter Stoykewich's stick past Marble's short side for an unassisted goal. Â Chris Calnan completed the scoring in the second period with just five seconds remaining after Adam Gilmour touched a pass from the side board to Calnan, who found himself all alone on Marble and lifted a backhand into the net.
Â
Sophomore
Alex Roos scored his second goal of the season at 5:14 of the third period pass as Slavin notched his second assist of the game with a nice pass across the crease. Sophomore
Sam Rothstein notched his third assist of the season on the play. Spiro then scored his second of the contest on an odd-man rush 7:25 of the third, taking a centering pass from Alex Tuch.
Â
CC outshot Boston College 35-34 and killed three of four BC power plays. The Tigers play at the University of New Hampshire on Saturday, Oct. 25 beginning at 7 p.m. (ET).
