New Hampshire Downs CC, 6-2

Box Score

Maxim Gaudreault scored twice and Adam Clark made 22 saves to lead New Hampshire past Colorado College, 6-2, Saturday night at the Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, N.H. The victory propelled UNH to a 2-2 record this season while the Tigers fell to 2-4.

Gaudreault took advantage of some poor puck handling at the blue line by CC and scored a shorthanded goal on a rebound following a save by Tyler Marble for a 1-0 lead with 3:03 remaining in the first period. Casey Thrush took the original shot and was credited with an assist. The Tigers had a stellar opportunity to tie things up late in the period but Charlie Taft's breakaway was stopped by UNH goalie Adam Clark with 20 seconds left in the frame.

Gaudreault struck again early in the second period, scoring off another rebound shot by Thrush, but CC's Cody Bradley cut the lead to 2-1 at the 7:35 mark with his fourth goal of the season and third tally in as many games. Luc Gerdes had his shot from the wing saved by Clark and Bradley gathered the rebound and placed a wrist shot from the slot past the UNH goalie. Hunter Fejes also collected an assist on the play.

The Tigers' second period troubles continued later in the frame as UNH struck for two goals in a 12-second span to take a commanding 4-1 advantage. Andrew Poturalski deflected a pass from the corner by Richard Boyd in front of the net past Marble at 13:41 and Shane Eiserman followed suit with a tip in front of Marble at the 13:53 mark. CC has been outscored 12-5 in the second stanza this season.

UNH took a 5-1 lead at the 9:38 mark of the third period when Tyler Kelleher put back yet another rebound past Marble. CC freshman Teemu Kivihalme scored less than a minute later with a laser shot that beat Clark as Bradley and Fejes earned assists on Kivihalme's third tally of the season. Grayson Downing completed the scoring at the 13:09 mark of the final period.

UNH outshot the Tigers 34-24 and neither team capitalized on the power play. CC was 0-for-4 while the Wildcats were 0-for-2.

Colorado College is idle until a Nov. 7-8 series at NCHC foe Miami.
