Aztecs Use Four-Minute Burst to Top Tigers

Box Score San Diego State used a three-goal outburst early in the second half to record a 3-0 victory over Colorado College in a battle of conference champions.

Katie Perry scored what proved to be the game winner 7:23 into the second frame, slipping a shot around CC junior goalkeeper Heather Seeley into the right side of the nest from 15 yards out.

Mariah Helmer doubled SDSU's lead 1:33 later off a corner kick, and Morgan Darling closed out the scoring in the 57th minute with a diagonal shot from 15 yards.

All three tallies were set up by Kelsey Booth.

The Aztecs finished with an 18-5 advantage in total shots and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.

Seeley made three saves for the Tigers, who slipped to 5-3-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the Mountain West.

Melanie Vaughn stopped one shot for San Diego State, who improved to 8-2-1 overall and 3-0-0 on the conference.

Colorado College travels to Albuquerque to play the University of New Mexico on Sunday at 1 p.m.
