Erin Silk won both butterfly events and
Olivia Dilorati recorded three top-three finishes as Colorado College cruised to a 165-108 victory at Colorado State University Pueblo on Friday night.
Silk and Dilorati teamed with
Megan Gillespie and
Justina Zuckerman in the first race of the evening, touching the wall nearly two seconds ahead of the ThunderWolves in a time of 1:54.65.
That effort proved to be a harbinger of things to come.
In her first individual race of the season, Dilorati took first in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.91. Later in the night, she took second in the 200 individual medley (2:23.02) and third in the 200 back (2:19.57), finishing just .03 behind teammate
Katy Martinez.
Zuckerman claimed first in the 50 freestyle, edging CSUP's April McDonough by 11 tenths of a second in a time of 25.89. Zuckerman's effort of 57.48 in the 100 free was good for second place.
Gillespie also turned in three top-three finishes. She led wire-to-wire to win the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.93, and then took second in the 200 (2:16.61) and 100 butterfly (1:03.93).
"
Megan Gillespie was fantastic tonight," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "She took command of the 200 breaststroke from the beginning and came from behind in the 200 fly to pass Magda Contreras-Gomez for second."
In the 1-meter diving,
Mary Rose Donahue took first place with a score of 215.32, while
Samantha Buxbaum was second with 185.33 points.
In the final event of the meet,
Annalise Grigereit,
Becca Adams,
Kate McGinn and
Emily Harrison won the 200 free relay with a clocking of 1:45.87.
The Tigers return to action next week at home against Austin College and the University of La Verne. The diving events will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, while the swimmers will take the spotlight the following night.
