Austin escapes CC’s upset bid

Box Score Brittany Stepanski scored with 3.88 seconds remaining to give Austin College a 74-72 victory over Colorado College on Friday night.
 
The game-winning hoop came a little more than 16 seconds after Courtney Tyus knocked down a short jumper to tie the game. Her half-court shot at the buzzer had the right distance, but was wide on the right side.
 
CC used a 36-17 run to wipe out an 18-point second-half deficit and take a 64-63 lead on a pair of Danielle Davis free throws with 3:36 remaining.
 
Davis paced the Tigers with 21 points. Tyus finished with 14 points, while Katie Wirth and Katie Waters added 12 apiece.
 
Christina Kime, who made three of five three-point attempts, led the 'Roos with 19 points.
 
Colorado College dropped to 1-22 overall and 1-11 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
Austin improved to 12-10 overall and 7-5 in league play.
 
The Tigers travel to Shreveport, La., to face Centenary College on Saturday afternoon.
