Hot Tigers head to UNO

Colorado College to put four-game unbeaten streak on the line against Mavs

Complete weekly press release

Energized by a recent sweep over the University of Denver, the Tigers look to continue their late-season surge on the road this week with another crucial two-game National Collegiate Hockey Conference series at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Faceoff at the CenturyLink Center in downtown Omaha is  7:37 p.m. CT Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday as CC, which has won its last three outings, tries to extend a four-game (3-0-1) undefeated streak and continue building momentum for the post-season.

Friday's series opener marks Scott Owens' 600th game as head coach.

Colorado College, 6-18-6 overall, currently is seventh in the NCHC standings at 6-9-5-1 mark in league play after beating archrival Denver, 3-2 and 3-1, on back-to-back nights last Friday and Saturday. With 24 points, the Tigers trail sixth-place University of Minnesota Duluth by only four and fifth-place DU by just five with four games remaining before the playoffs.

Third-place Nebraska Omaha is 13-15-2 overall and 10-8-2 in conference play. UNO split at Western Michigan University last week, skating to a 5-1 victory in Friday's series opener before dropping a 5-3 decision on Saturday.

The Mavericks own a slim 5-4-2 edge in 11 previous encounters with CC, including a 3-1 advantage in four games at the CenturyLink Center, where they swept Colorado College (8-4 and 3-1) last season. The Tigers posted a 4-2 victory and 3-3 tie at the World Arena earlier this campaign. Their only victory in Omaha to date, a 5-2 decision, came on November 4, 2011, in the second game of its first-ever series there after Nebraska Omaha prevailed by a 7-5 count a night earlier.
