Sarah Schweiss struck twice, but a three-goal deficit proved too large to overcome as Colorado College dropped a 3-2 decision at the University of Northern Colorado in the season opener for both teams on a rainy Friday night.

Schweiss put CC on the board when she knocked home a deflection off the defense with 10:02 to play in the first half, and then pulled the Tigers to within a goal when she converted off a cross from senior forward

Colorado College had a pair of excellent scoring chances during the closing minutes, but junior goalkeeper Kaitlin Ruff made diving stop on Schweiss with 20:02 remaining and on a blast by senior midfielder
Jessie Ayers with 11:24 to play.
Ruff finished with four saves.
Rowan Frederiksen steered aside two shots in her collegiate debut for the Tigers.
CC finished with a 19-8 margin in total shots, including a decisive 11-2 advantage in the second half. Colorado College also recorded a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Tigers play host to the University of Denver at Stewart Field on Sunday at 2 p.m.
