Box Score No. 6 Colorado College was unable to come up with a clean sweep again as it split its pair of matches in La Verne, Calif., Saturday.

The Tigers started the day strong with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 sweep over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, but dropped its final match in four sets, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15, to host the University of La Verne. Â

CC was led by sophomore Abbie Holtze with her first double-double of the day with 15 kills and 15 digs to help earn the victory over Pomona-Pitzer (6-3).

Keli Sherwood added a career-high 10 digs along with seven blocks to aid the strong defensive efforts by the Tigers, who held the Sagehens to a .032 attack percentage.

CC had two other players earn double-figure digs with junior
Sophie Merrifield leading the team with 21 and senior
Julia Lawton receiving 16 for a season high.

Despite Holtze's strong performance against La Verne, the Tigers were unable to fight their way back to earn the win. The outside hitter earned a career-high 27 digs and tied her season-high 16 kills against the Leopards.

Kristen Liberty aided the attack with a season-high 13 kills, while freshman
Sarah Barker gave out 30 assists.

La Verne (6-1) hit a .222 attack percentage to earn the victory, which was the highest allowed by the CC defense this season. The Tigers have won every match this season when holding their opponents to a .150 hitting percentage or less.

Colorado College (11-2) begins conference play on the road in Irving, Texas as it takes on the University of Dallas at 12:30 p.m. CT on Sept. 20. Â
