Last Time Out
The Tigers won their first road game in 13 chances this season and snapped a seven-game winless streak with a 4-1 victory over UConn Jan. 6 in Bridgeport, Conn. CC scored a season-high three power-play goals and killed off all six UConn power play opportunites. Sophomore Jaccob Slavin (Erie, CO) led the Tigers with a goal and two assists, becoming the first Tiger with a three-point game since March 15, 2013 (Alexander Krushelnyski at Denver). Senior Scott Wamsganz (Anchorage, AK) notched his team-high second game-winning goal of the season with a PPG to break a 1-1 tie at the 8:43 mark of the second period. Senior Charlie Taft (Edina, MN) opened the scoring with a power-play goal late in the first period, but UConn evened things up just 18 seconds later. Sophomore Zach Aman (Johnstown, PA) put the game away with 2:53 remaining in the third period, while sophomore Tyler Marble (Detroit, MI) turned away 23 of 24 shots in net.

Up Next
The Tigers head back out on the road for a two-game series at No. 3/2 North Dakota on Jan. 23-24.

For the Record
Colorado College, in eighth place in the NCHC, is 4-13-1 overall and 0-8-1-0 in the NCHC this season following its 1-2 road trip at Providence and UConn … Nebraska Omaha is 14-5-3 and 8-3-1-1 after sweeping the University of Denver, 5-4 and 1-0, at home last weekend. The Mavericks moved into first place in the league standings with the sweep.

The Coaches
Mike Haviland (Elmira College, '90), who is in his first season at the helm of the Tigers, came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Dean Blais (Minnesota, '73) is in his sixth season as the head coach at Nebraska Omaha. Since taking over the Mavericks, Blais has led UNO to two 20-win seasons and in the process earned his 300th career win. He was the head coach at North Dakota for 10 years and won two national championships there. Blais has a career record of 367-206-54.

All-Time Series
Friday's game marks the 14th meeting between the  Tigers and UNO. The Mavericks hold a 7-4-2 advantage   in the series and went 2-0-1 against CC last season. The Tigers hold a 3-2-1 lead in Colorado Springs.

Scouting the Opposition
The reigning National Player of the Month, sophomore Austin Ortega, leads UNO in scoring with 24 points (13g,11a) this season. Sophomore Jake Guentzel (7g,15a) and freshman Jake Randolph (4g,14a) follow with 22 and 18 points, respectively. Senior goalie Ryan Massa has played in 15 games and sports a 2.07 goals-against average, which ranks fourth in the NCHC and 26th in the nation. His .934 saves pct. leads the league and is tied for seventh in the country. Last weekend, sophomore Kirk Thompson filled in for Massa, who was out with an injury. Thompson has a 2.86 GAA and .903 saves percentage in eight outings.

Bradley Continues to Lead CC in Scoring
With an assist at UConn on Jan. 6, junior Cody Bradley (Tampa, FL) has recorded at least one point in 11 of CC's 18 games and leads the team in goals (8) and points (16). His eight goals are a career-high and his 16 points ties his career-best, achieved last season. Bradley is tied for 10th in the NCHC with eight goals and has a team-high five of CC's 17 multi-point games this season. His last four multi-point games have come after he was held scoreless.

Tiger Tidbits
Junior Michael King (Prince George, B.C) scored the first goal of his career Jan. 3 at Providence ... Aman and senior Ian Young (Red Deer, Alberta) each scored his first goal of the season in the same game ... With his goal at UConn on Jan. 6, Wamsganz has a point in seven of his last 10 games ... CC has scored at least four goals in two of its last three games; the Tigers did that just twice in their first 15 games (5 vs. Wisconsin, Nov. 21; 4 vs. Alabama-Huntsville, Oct. 18) ... CC is 0-3-1 in overtime games this season, all four in a stretch of five games ... CC allowed a season-high 53 shots on Jan. 3 at Providence, the most by an opponent since Wisconsin put 60 on frame in a four-overtime game on March 8, 1997 ... Five of Bradley's eight goals have been CC's first of the game ... Junior Hunter Fejes (Anchorage, AK) is the first CC player to record consecutive multi-point games this season (Jan. 4 and 6) ... The Jan. 4 game at Providence marked the third time this season that linemates Bradley and Fejes each had multiple points in the same game (at UNH, vs. Wisconsin) ... With a 35-24 advantage over UConn, CC outshot its opponent for the first time in seven games (at Air Force, 11/22).

Power Play Picking up Steam

After a 3-for-5 performance on the power play against UConn on Jan. 6, the Tigers have moved into the top half of the country for power-play percentage. CC is 28th (59 teams) with a 17.57 percent conversion rate (13-of-74). The Tigers, who went 5-of-52 (9.6 percent) and were ranked second-to-last in the nation with a man advantage after their first 11 games, are 8-of-22 (36.4 percent) in their last seven contests.

Marble Rolling Along
Marble had the best back-to-back games in his career last week. He made a career- high 48 saves on Jan. 3 against Providence, then turned away 23 of 24 shots in CC's   4-1 victory at UConn on Jan. 6. His 48 saves were the most by a CC goalie since Josh Thorimbert had 50 in a 2-2 draw at Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 7, 2014.

Much More Competitive Recently
During their recent seven-game winless streak (0-6-1) prior to defeating UConn on Jan. 6, the Tigers were very competitive. Of those six losses, three came in overtime and two others were by two goals. To highlight the recent competitiveness, in CC's seven-game skid prior to the Wisconsin game on Nov. 21, the Tigers lost five of those by four goals or more.

Two Long Stretches Away From Home
The game at UConn on Jan. 6 ended a stretch that had the Tigers play 13 of their last 14 regular-season games away from home. Since playing North Dakota in the final game of a four-game homestand on Oct. 18, the only regular-season game at The Broadmoor World Arena was against Wisconsin on Nov. 21. CC did host the U.S. National Under-18 team in a pair of exhibitions, Dec. 27-28. Beginning with the games this weekend against UNO, the Tigers will play 10 of their final 15 games at home.

Several Career-Highs Already This Season
Wamsganz (nine), Aman (four), Luc Gerdes (four), Christian Heil (three), Matt Hansen (three) and King (one) have each posted a career-high in points so far this season.

Six Opponents Played in Postseason
Six of Colorado College's 14 opponents this season played in the NCAA Division I Hockey Tournament last season. NCHC foes North Dakota, Denver and St. Cloud State as well as Boston College, Wisconsin and Providence were among the 16 teams to battle for the national championship last spring. North Dakota and Boston College advanced to the national semifinals.
