Davis Shines As Tigers Fall At Schreiner

Box Score Danielle Davis scored 20 of her game-high 25 points in the second half, but a series of 20-point deficits proved too large to overcome as the Tigers dropped an 81-69 decision at Schreiner University on Friday night.

Davis, who eclipsed the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season and the seventh time in her career, became the 20th player in program history to score 800 or more career points. The junior forward finished the game with 802.

The Mountaineers built a 29-9 lead with 7:13 remaining in the first half. CC trimmed its deficit to 14 points with 15:18 remaining, but Schreiner regained the momentum and extended its advantage to 80-57 with 2:07 to play.

Davis scored seven points as Colorado College closed out the game with a 12-1 run to pull to within 12 points at the final buzzer.

Senior guard Courtney Tyus scored 18 points for the Tigers, who slipped to 2-16 overall and 2-5 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Sophomore forward Korbyn Ukasick added 13 points and seven boards.

Junior guard Katie Wirth pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds to help CC build a 48-34 advantage on the glass.

SU overcame its rebounding deficit by making five of 18 three-point attempts. Colorado College finished 0-for-6 from behind the arc.

Sophomore guard Sabriyyah Fennell, who made six of nine shots from the floor and all five of her free throws, led the Mountaineers with 18 points.

Junior guard Kelsie Jackson finished with 16 points, while sophomore guard Codi Simmons and junior forward Brooke Sanders added 13 and 12, respectively.

Schreiner improved to 6-10 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Colorado College returns to action on Saturday night at Trinity University in San Antonio.
