Last Time Out
Colorado College lost a pair of games at No. 2 North Dakota last weekend ... On Friday, Michael Parks scored a shorthanded, breakaway goal at the 6:37 mark of the third period to lift UND to a 2-1 victory. Just 15 seconds after UND's Connor Gaarder was called for tripping, Parks took advantage of a turnover at the Tiger blue line and beat CC sophomore Tyler Marble (Detroit, MI). CC sophomore Alex Roos (Prairie Grove, IL) scored CC's only goal at the 4:01 mark of the first period when he redirected a shot from the left point by senior Scott Wamganz (Anchorage, AK) into the net. Marble had 26 saves Friday night ... On Saturday, seniors Charlie Taft (Edina, MN) and Wamsganz each scored a power-play goal, but North Dakota held on for a 5-3 victory. Fellow senior Aaron Harstad (Stevens Point, WI) connected late in the game with an extra attacker to cut the UND lead to 4-3, but UND's Drake Caggiula scored an empty-netter with 27 seconds remaining to seal the win.

The 2014 NCHC Coach of the Year led his team to the league's inaugural Penrose Cup championship with a 15-6-3 conference record. Motzko has guided the Huskies to five NCAA Division I tournament appearances in 2007, '08, '10, '13 and '14 and the 2013 NCAA Division I Frozen Four.

St. Cloud State is one of the two NCHC teams that CC will play just twice this season, the other is Minnesota Duluth.

Power Play Picking up Steam ...
Saturday night's 2-for-3 performance on the power play improved the Tigers' success rate to 19.5 percent (17-for-87) this season, good for 20th in the country (59 teams). The Tigers, who went 5-of-52 (9.6 percent) and were ranked second-to-last in the nation with a man advantage after their first 11 games, are 12-for-35 (34.3 percent) in their last 11 contests.

... Penalty Kill As Well
In addition to the improvement in the power play, CC's other special teams unit has been equally outstanding as of late. After allowing 12 power play goals in their opponents' first 39 chances (69.2 percent) over the first nine games, the Tigers have given up just five in the last 48 penalty kill situations (89.6 percent). CC is currently ranked 42nd in the nation, killing 80.5 percent (70-of-87).

Marble Rolling Along
