Saturday's Game NotesSt. Cloud State struck for four goals in the first period and added three more during a five-minute power play in the second to defeat Colorado College 7-1 Friday night at the Broadmoor World Arena. With the victory, SCSU improved to 11-13-1 overall and 6-8-1 in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, while the Tigers fell to 5-17-1 and 1-12-1 in league play.

Patrick Russell opened the scoring just 1:14 into the game after he found himself alone in the slot with the puck following a CC turnover and sent a wrist shot past goalie

Charlie Taft nearly evened the game at the seven-minute mark, but was denied on a breakaway by SCSU's netminder Charlie Lindgren.

Nick Oliver scored the first of three St. Cloud goals within a span of one minute, 38 seconds during a delayed penalty at the 13:03 mark of the frame. Kalle Kossilla scored on the ensuing power play, sending Marble to the bench in favor of
Chase Perry, and Blake Winiecki scored 25 seconds later to make it 4-0.

An apparent goal by CC's
Christian Heil was waved off just two minutes into the second period, then Heil was whistled for a 5-minute major checking from behind penalty at the 4:49 mark. The Huskies took full advantage as Jonny Brodzinski scored twice and assisted on Joey Benik's goal during the penalty while Kossilla assisted on all three tallies. St. Cloud State outshot the Tigers, 14-2, in the middle frame.

CC's
Jaccob Slavin scored the game's only goal in the third period with a blast from the right point during the power play at the 11:03 mark for his third goal of the season.
Teemu Kivihalme and
Cody Bradley assisted on the play, with Bradley posting his team-leading 13
th helper of the campaign.

Thanks in large part to their three power-play goals in the second period, the Huskies finished 4-of-8 with the man advantage, while CC was 1-of-6. Marble, who replaced Perry after Brodzinski made it 7-0 at the 8:58 mark of the second period, finished with 18 saves while Perry made eight. Lindgren had 21 saves for SCSU. Despite getting outshot 14-8 in the third period, SCSU held a 33-22 advantage for the game.
