Box ScoreSt. Cloud State completed a two-game sweep of Colorado College with a 6-1 victory Saturday night at The Broadmoor World Arena. The Huskies improved to 12-13-1 overall and 7-8-1 in the NCHC, while CC fell to 5-18-1 and 1-13-1 in league play.
Â
Jonny Brodzinski had two goals and an assist and Ethan Prow collected three assists for the second consecutive game as SCSU scored the final six goals of the contest, including four in the third period. Charlie Lindgren had 23 saves Saturday and the Huskies outshot CC, 42-24.
Â
Each team scored once in the first period. CC's
Sam Rothstein notched his fifth goal of the season at the 3:52 mark with a one-timer from the left circle after a blue-line pass from
Charlie Taft caromed off the boards behind Lindgren.
Peter Stoykewych also assisted on the play.
Â
David Morley beat CC goalie
Tyler Marble at the 7:30 mark to even the game at 1-1. Joe Rehkamp played the puck along the boards to Blake Winiecki behind the Tiger net. Winiecki and a Tiger defender were battling for possession and the puck squirted right to Morley in the slot.
Â
Brodzinski notched his third power play goal of the weekend at the 9:05 mark of the second period. He took a crossing pass from Joey Benik and buried it past Marble for a 2-1 lead, then he made it 3-1 just 43 seconds into the final period by flipping a shot over Marble from right in front of the Tiger net. SCSU's last three goals had that same theme, with all of them coming directly in front of Marble, including Daniel Tedesco's just 1:03 later with a deflection of a Mika Ilvonen shot from the right point.
Â
Patrick Russell scored his second of the weekend at the 7:07 mark and Morley closed out the scoring with 5:57 remaining in the game. Prow assisted on each of those goals. Â
Â
Marble finished the game with 36 saves, including 15 in each of the first two periods. The Huskies were 2-for-4 on the power play and were not whistled for a penalty in the contest.
Â
The Tigers host the University of Denver next Friday, Feb. 6, beginning at 7:37 p.m.
