This WeekColorado College travels for the first time this season with a two-game series on Oct. 16-17 against the ninth-ranked UMass-Lowell River Hawks at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. (ET) on Friday and 7 p.m. (ET) on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on KRDO NewsRadio 1240 AM and 105.5 FM.
Last WeekThe Tigers dropped a pair of games to the UMass Minutemen at home last weekend. CC lost a season-opening game for the first time since 2001 with a 6-3 defeat on Friday. Freshmen

Trey Bradley (Tampa, FL) each scored his first career goal and senior
Hunter Fejes (Anchorage, AK) also notched a goal for the Tigers. On Saturday, the Tigers built a 3-0 lead after two periods, but gave up four unanswered goals in the third period.
Trey Bradley notched his second goal in as many games, while fellow freshman
David Radke (Orinda, CA) and sophomore
Teemu Kivihalme (Savage, MN) also scored for CC. Kivihalme also recorded an assist for the second two-point game of his career.
Season OpenersColorado College is now 47-28-2 all-time in regular-season openers. The Tigers are 40-13-1 at home and 7-15-1 on the road (including neutral games). CC had won its last 13 regular-season openers, dating back to a 6-2 loss to North Dakota in 2001-02.
Up NextFollowing this weekend's games, the Tigers return home to face No. 4/3 Boston College at The Broadmoor World Arena on Oct. 23-24.
For the RecordWith its two losses last weekend, Colorado College is 0-2 for the first time since the 2001-02 season … UMass-Lowell is 1-0 this season after a 3-0 victory at home over RPI last Friday. The River Hawks were 21-12-6 last season and finished fourth in Hockey East with an 11-7-4 league mark.

The CoachesMike Haviland (Elmira College, '90) is in his second season at the helm of the Tigers. He came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Norm Bazin (UMass-Lowell, '94) is in his fifth year at UMass-Lowell. He has a record of 100-47-13 with the River Hawks and led them to the NCAA Frozen Four in 2012-13. Bazin was an assistant coach at Colorado College from 2000-08 before taking the head coaching position at Hamilton College, where he spent three season before moving to UMass-Lowell.
Previous MeetingsColorado College holds a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series with UMass-Lowell, including a 5-3 victory in the NCAA quarterfinals in 1996. The River Hawks, however, have won the last two meetings. The teams have split four games overall in Lowell.

Sam Rothstein (Minnetonka, MN) will serve as the team captain in 2015-16. Rothstein, the first junior to be named captain at CC since Mark Stuart in 2004-05, scored 14 points (6g,8a) as a sophomore and has missed just four games his first two seasons … Senior forward
Cody Bradley (Tampa, FL), who led the team in scoring with 30 points last season, and junior forwards
Zach Aman (Johnstown, PA) and
Christian Heil (Westminster, CO) will be the alternate captains.
Seven Opponents Played in Postseason   Seven of Colorado College's 12 opponents this season played in the NCAA Division I Hockey Tournament last season. NCHC foes North Dakota, Denver, St. Cloud State, Miami, Nebraska Omaha and Minnesota Duluth as well as Boston College were among the 16 teams to battle for the national championship last spring. North Dakota and
Nebraska Omaha advanced to the national semifinals.
A Pair of Tigers DraftedTwo players on this year's roster have been drafted by National Hockey League teams. Fejes was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 draft by the Phoenix (now Arizona) Coyotes, while Kivihalme was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the fifth round of the 2013 draft.
Meteoric Rise in the Power PlayAfter the first weekend of regular-season action, Colorado College leads the NCHC and is tied for fifth in the country in power-play percentage at 36.4 percent (4-of-11). Last season, the Tigers finished tied for 13th in the country (59 teams) at 20 percent (26-for-130). The Tigers, who went 5-of-52 (9.6 percent) and were ranked 50th in the nation with a man advantage after its first 11 games, were 21-for-78 (29.2 percent) in their last 24 contests beginning on Dec. 5. They had the fourth-best PP percentage in the country during that time frame.

Number ChangesThree returning Tigers will each wear a new number in 2015-16. Fejes will move from No. 11 to No. 18, while Aman moves from No. 26 to No. 21 and Heil moves from No. 15 to No. 11.
Hanson Retires, Named Student Assistant CoachSenior
Jared Hanson (Palmer, AK), one of eight student-athletes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference named to the league's 2014-15 Scholar-Athlete Team, will not play his final season at CC and will serve as a student assistant coach.
Bradley Topped CC in Scoring Last SeasonCody Bradley led the Tigers last season with career-high totals for goals (10), assists (20) and points (30). He tied for 12th in the NCHC in assists and recorded at least one point in a team-high 21 of CC's 35 games.

Tough Schedule Last Season ... Â Â Â Colorado College finished the 2014-15 season with the seventh-toughest schedule in the country, according to the Division I RPI. In fact, the eight NCHC schools occupied the top eight spots on the list. CC played 21 of its 35 games last year, including 13 of its last 17, against teams ranked in the top 12 in the country.
... And Again This YearEight of Colorado College's 12 opponents this season are ranked in this week's USCHO.com Top 20 poll. In fact, four opponents, Boston College, North Dakota, Denver and Nebraska-Omaha, are ranked in the top 5. The Tigers will play 26 of their 34 games against teams in the top 18 of the poll.
