North DakotaThis WeekColorado College continues its four-game homestand this weekend with a two-game series against top-ranked North Dakota at The Broadmoor World Arena. The puck drops at 7:37 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31. Both games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on KRDO NewsRadio 1240 AM and 105.5 FM and streamed live on NCHC.tv.
Last WeekThe Tigers suffered a pair of losses to No. 4 Boston College last weekend at The Broadmoor World Arena. Ryan Fitzgerald scored twice and Jeremy Bracco assisted on all three goals to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 victory on Friday. Thatcher Demko made 24 saves for BC, while freshman
Jacob Nehama (Allen, TX) made 31 saves for CC. On Saturday, the Eagles scored three times in the first period and Demko posted his second consecutive shutout with 21 saves. Nehama started the game for the Tigers, but was replaced after the first period by junior
Tyler Marble (Detroit, MI), who finished with 27 saves.  Â
For the RecordColorado College fell to 0-6 this season with its two losses last weekend … North Dakota, which is ranked No. 1 in this week's USCHO.com poll and No. 2 in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll, is 4-0-2 after sweeping a pair of games at the University of Vermont, 2-0 and 5-2, last weekend.

Up NextThe Tigers play the first two games of the annual Gold Pan series with the University of Denver in a home-and-home weekend Nov. 6-7. The game on Friday, Nov. 6 game will be played at Magness Arena in Denver, while the Saturday, Nov. 7 contest will be at The Broadmoor World Arena.
Freshmen Making Their MarkLast weekend vs. Boston College, 11 of CC's 21 players in uniform each night were freshmen. So far this season, freshmen have accounted for 14 of CC's 25 points, including six of the team's nine goals.
The CoachesMike Haviland (Elmira College, '90) is in his second season at the helm of the Tigers. He came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Brad Berry (North Dakota, '02) became the 16th head coach in program history on May 18, 2015. Berry recently completed his ninth season as an assistant coach at UND in 2014-15. He served two stints in that role, first from 2000-01 through 2005-06 and again from 2012-13 through 2014-15. During his nine years on the UND staff, Berry helped lead the program to eight NCAA Tournament appearances and five NCAA Frozen Four berths.
On the AirAll CC games in 2015-16, home and away, will be broadcast live throughout Southern Colorado on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM and 1240 AM, featuring Ken Landau with the play-by-play. Pre-game shows start 37 minutes before faceoff. The broadcasts also can be heard worldwide via the Internet.
Scouting the OppositionNorth Dakota lost to Boston University, 5-3, in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament last season. Senior forward Drake Caggiula leads the team in scoring with eight points (2g,6a) while junior goaltender Matt Hrynkiw has played in UND's last four games and has a 1.76 goals-against average this year. Senior forward Bryn Chyzyk leads the team with five goals. Â
Previous MeetingsNorth Dakota holds a 149-80-10 advantage in the all-time series with Colorado College. The Tigers have just one victory in the last 10 meetings, an 3-2 triumph in game two of the 2014 NCHC first-round series in Grand Forks, N.D. Colorado College does hold a 57-51-3 mark against North Dakota in Colorado Springs. The all-time series results are on page 5 of this release.
Penalty Kill Pretty Solid Lately ...Colorado College killed off eight of BC's nine power plays last weekend and has erased 14 of the last 15 overall heading back to the second period of the Oct. 16 game at UMass-Lowell. The Tigers have killed off 76.7 percent of its opponents' man-advantage situations this season. Â
But Power Play Struggling ...After going 4-for-11 on the power play in the season-opening series against UMass, the Tigers have not scored on their last 17 man-advantage opportunities, including an 0-for-10 performance last weekend against Boston College. Â
Nehama Records Most Saves in 18 YearsNehama's 52 saves at UMass-Lowell on Oct. 16 were the most in one game by a CC goalie since Judd Lambert made 60 in a four-overtime victory (1-0) over Wisconsin on March 8, 1997. UML's 55 shots on Friday were also the most by an opponent since Wisconsin recorded 60 in that same game.

Trey Bradley each gathered an assist on Gooch's goal against UMass-Lowell on Friday, Oct, 16, becoming the first set of brothers to record a point on a CC goal since March 9, 2012 (Jaden and Rylan Schwartz).
This Year's LeadershipJunior forward
Sam Rothstein (Minnetonka, MN) will serve as the team captain in 2015-16. Rothstein, the first junior to be named captain at CC since Mark Stuart in 2004-05, scored 14 points (6g,8a) as a sophomore and has missed just four games his first two seasons … Senior forward
Cody Bradley (Tampa, FL), who led the team in scoring with 30 points last season, and junior forwards
Zach Aman (Johnstown, PA) and
Christian Heil (Westminster, CO) will be the alternate captains.
Seven Opponents Played in Postseason   Seven of Colorado College's 12 opponents this season played in the NCAA Division I Hockey Tournament last season. NCHC foes North Dakota, Denver, St. Cloud State, Miami, Nebraska Omaha and Minnesota Duluth as well as Boston College were among the 16 teams to battle for the national championship last spring. North Dakota and
Nebraska Omaha advanced to the national semifinals.
Hanson Retires, Named Student Assistant CoachSenior
Jared Hanson (Palmer, AK), one of eight student-athletes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference named to the league's 2014-15 Scholar-Athlete Team, will not play his final season at CC and will serve as a student assistant coach.
Number ChangesThree returning Tigers will each wear a new number in 2015-16. Fejes will move from No. 11 to No. 18, while Aman moves from No. 26 to No. 21 and Heil moves from No. 15 to No. 11.
Tough Schedule Last Season ... Â Â Â Colorado College finished the 2014-15 season with the seventh-toughest schedule in the country, according to the Division I RPI. In fact, the eight NCHC schools occupied the top eight spots on the list. CC played 21 of its 35 games last year, including 13 of its last 17, against teams ranked in the top 12 in the country.
... And Again This YearEight of Colorado College's 12 opponents this season are ranked in this week's USCHO.com Top 20 poll. In fact, the Tigers' two previous opponents, UMass-Lowell and Boston College, as well as the next three opponents, North Dakota, Denver and Minnesota Duluth, are ranked in the top 7 this week. In addition, NCHC foe Nebraska Omaha is ranked No. 1 in the USA Today / USA Hockey poll and No. 2 in the USCHO poll. The Tigers will play 26 of their 34 games against teams in the top 15 of the USCHO poll.
Kivihalme Near the Top Among D-MenDespite not recording a point last weekend, sophomore defenseman
Teemu Kivihalme (Savage, MN) is still among the top-scoring defensemen in the NCHC. He is tied for third with four points and tied for fourth with three assists.
