Post-Game Press ConferenceChris Wilkie scored twice and Christian Wolanin added two assists to lead top-ranked North Dakota to a 5-2 victory over Colorado College in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference opener for both teams Friday night at The Broadmoor World Arena.

Matt Hrynkiw made 19 saves as UND stayed unbeaten at 5-0-2, while the Tigers, who have now played five consecutive games against teams ranked in the top 10, fell to 0-7.

North Dakota scored twice in the first period, with Shane Gersich leading things off by gathering a rebound and putting a shot over CC goalie
Jacob Nehama's left shoulder just 4:11 into the contest. Wilkie made it 2-0 six minutes later when he deflected a shot by Bryn Chyzyk past Nehama.

CC sophomore
Teemu Kivihalme put the Tigers on the board for the first time since Oct. 17 with a wrister from the high slot on the power play 2:03 into the second period that beat Hrynkiw stick side. Senior
Cody Bradley and freshman
Trevor Gooch assisted on Kivihalme's second goal of the season. The extra-man tally broke a streak of 19 consecutive scoreless power plays for CC.

After killing off 30 seconds of a 5-on-3, UND's Rhett Gardner scored the game-winner with a shorthanded goal at the 12:03 mark of the middle frame. UND broke out on a 3-on-1 and Gardner finished the play after taking a pass from Troy Stecher.

Gooch nearly made it 3-2 early in the third period but his shot clanged off the pipe behind Hrinkiw during a power play. Neither team was very successful with a man advantage Friday as UND was 1-for 4 and the Tigers finished 1-of-7.

Wilkie and Brock Boeser then scored within 1:45 of each other later in the third to give UND a commanding 5-1 advantage. Freshman
Cole McCaskill ended the scoring with his first career goal by racing off the bench during a line change, taking a back pass from fellow freshman
Trey Bradley and sending a rocket past Hrynkiw. Senior
Hunter Fejes also collected an assist.

Nehama made 32 saves and Gooch led the Tigers with four shots.

The same two teams battle again on Saturday, Oct. 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
