CC's Run Falls Short Against Augsburg

Box Score The Colorado College women's basketball team had three players score in double figures, but that wasn't enough as Augsburg College defeated the Tigers, 74-59 on Wednesday evening in Reid Arena.

Senior duo Danielle Davis and Katie Wirth each scored 13 points, while junior Korbyn Ukasick added another 13 points to lead CC's offense. Wirth also orchestrated the offense with a season-high five assists.

Augsburg held a 37-18 lead with 2:43 left to play in the second quarter, but Colorado College closed out the half with a 9-0 run when Wirth hit a pair of free throws with 1:55 remaining.

CC continued its run into the third quarter, scoring the first five points through the first two minutes of action, to pull within 37-32 when freshman Casey Torbet hit a layup from Wirth.

That run was as close as the Tigers could get as the Auggies answered with a 19-7 run to build a 56-39 lead after three quarters of play.

Augsburg (3-1) was led by Alaina Quaranta with 17 points and four steals. Maria Loughlin and Jenna Orth also scored in double figures with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Davis led CC on the boards with seven rebounds, while Torbet earned a team-high three steals.

Colorado College (0-4) hosts the Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Class on Friday and Saturday and will play Lewis & Clark College at 3 p.m. on Friday.
