Tigers Edge CSU-Pueblo 153-140

Final Results

The Colorado College women's swimming and diving team posted an impressive 153-140 victory over CSU-Pueblo Saturday afternoon at Schlessman Pool.

"This was a hard-fought win for us today," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "We had some people actively sick with a stomach virus who were still able to hang in there and pull out some great swims."

Senior Olivia Dilorati and sophomore Justina Zuckerman led the way with three wins apiece. Dilorati won the 100-yard backstroke and 100 butterfly and swam the opening leg of the winning 400-medley relay team. Zuckerman, who anchored that relay and the meet-clinching 400 freestyle relay team, also won the 50-yard freestyle race in a time of 25.24 seconds. Dilorati and Zuckerman each recorded a second-place finish as well, in the 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle, respectively.

"It came down to the last event today (the 400 medley relay) and we were able to pull it out to win the meet," Goodman James said. "Justina was amazing anchoring the relay with a 54.56 split to bring us home for the win. She swam 2.5 seconds faster than the individual 100 earlier in the day.

Senior Megan Gillespie captured CC's other individual swimming victory by winning the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:38.31. She also finished second in the 100 breaststroke and 400 individual medley. Meanwhile, senior Erin Holmes, who led off the 400 freestyle relay, finished second in the 50 and 200 freestyle races.

"Megan has been consistently so good in the 200 breaststroke all season and is getting faster every meet in the 100," Goodman James said. "She led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 breaststroke, with Kate Guynn second and Becca Adams third."

In the diving portion of the meet, sophomore Mary Rose Donahue stayed perfect this season by taking both events. She won the 1-meter with a score of 248.45 points and the 3-meter with 253.40 points.

"Mary Rose threw in some new dives today and was exceptional winning both boards," Goodman James said.

The Tigers are idle until swimming at the Orange Bowl Classic in Key Largo, Fla., on Jan. 3, 2016.
