This Week
Colorado College takes a break from play in the NCHC and will face the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers this weekend, Dec. 18-19, at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Ala. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. (CT) each night. Both games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on KRDO NewsRadio 1240 AM and 105.5 FM.

Last Time Out
The Tigers dropped a pair of league games at Western Michigan last weekend. On Friday, freshman Andrew Farny (Steamboat Springs, CO) scored the first two goals of his career, both on the power play, but it wasn't enough as Oliwer Kaski and Colt Conrad each scored twice and Griffen Molino had three points to lead Western Michigan to a 7-3 victory. Kaski scored both of his goals in the decisive second period, when the Broncos pulled away with three tallies, including two in the final four minutes to snap an eight-game losing streak. Colorado College, meanwhile, saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. Senior Hunter Fejes (Anchorage, AK) scored his sixth goal of the season and added an assist on Farny's first goal, while freshman Mason Bergh (Eden Prairie, MN) added a helper on each of Farny's goals ... On Saturday, a valiant third-period comeback fell just short as WMU captured a 5-3 win. Trailing 4-1 midway through the final period, freshman Trey Bradley (Tampa, FL) scored his second goal of the game at the 10:26 mark of the third period with a one-timer from the left circle just seven seconds into a power play. Just over three minutes later, junior Alex Roos  (Prairie Grove, IL) cut the lead to 4-3 with his first goal of the season. WMU scored an empty-netter with 37 seconds remaining for the final margin.

For the Record
Colorado College is 3-15 overall and 2-8 in the NCHC ... Alabama Huntsville is 3-11-2 overall and 2-10-2 in the WCHA after losing a pair of games (2-1 and 4-1) at Minnesota State last weekend. The Chargers are 0-9-1 in their last 10 games.

Up Next
The Tigers are idle until they resume action in the NCHC against St. Cloud State, Jan. 8-9, in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Coaches
Mike Haviland (Elmira College, '90) is in his second season at the helm of the Tigers. He came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Mike Corbett (Denver, '96) is in his third season as the head coach at Alabama-Huntsville after spending 10 seasons as an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy, including the '12-13 campaign as the associate head coach. Corbett, who has a 13-72-7 record at UAH, helped Air Force win five Atlantic Hockey Association tournament championships during his tenure.

On the Air
All CC games in 2015-16, home and away, will be broadcast live throughout Southern Colorado on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM and 1240 AM, featuring Ken Landau with the play-by-play. Pre-game shows start 37 minutes before faceoff. The broadcasts also can be heard worldwide via the Internet.

Scouting the Opposition
Sophomore Max McHugh (4g,11a) leads the Chargers in scoring with 15 points. He is followed by sophomore Brennan Saulnier (6g,7a) and senior Chad Brears (6g,6a) with 13 and 12, respectively. Junior Carmine Guerriero is 2-7-2 in the nets this season and has a 2.71 goals-against average.

Previous Meetings
Colorado College has won all seven games in the all-time series against Alabama-Huntsville. All seven games, including the first two last season, have been played at The Broadmoor World Arena. CC won last year's games 3-2 and 4-3.

Scoring Streaks
Fejes and junior Luc Gerdes (Eden Prairie, MN) each tied his career high last Friday with at least one point in three and four consecutive games, respectively. Neither recorded a point on Saturday.

Solid Power Play of Late
Colorado College was 3-for-11 on the power play last weekend and has notched at least one PP goal in five of the last six games. The Tigers have coverted 7-of-21 (33.3%) man advantages during that span.

First League Sweep at Home in Three Years
Prior to the sweep over Miami, the last time CC swept a league opponent at home was Nov. 9-10, 2012 against Bemidji State when both teams were members of the WCHA.

Three in a Row
Prior to last weekend, the Tigers owned their first three-game winning streak under Mike Haviland. The team's last three-game streak was from Feb. 15 to Feb. 22, 2014 (defeated Western Michigan once and Denver twice).

Upperclassmen Coming Through Lately
After scoring just five of CC's first 15 goals this season, upperclassmen have scored 11 of the last 18 goals, including eight of the nine in the team's three victories.

Comeback vs. Miami The First in a While

CC's comeback on Dec. 4 marked its first win when trailing in the third period since a 4-3 victory over St. Cloud State at home on Feb. 22, 2013.

A Break From The Top 20
After playing 10 consecutive games against teams ranked in the top 20, the Tigers' last six games were against unranked opponents. The nine teams CC has played this season have a combined record of 76-56-21, good for a .565 winning percentage.

Penalty Kill Stays Strong ...
Colorado College killed off six of WMU's seven power plays last weekend and has erased 49 of the last 57 overall (86%) heading back to the second period of the Oct. 16 game at UMass-Lowell. The Tigers have an 80.6% penalty kill percentage for the season.

Scoring Brothers
Cody and Trey Bradley each gathered an assist on freshman Trevor Gooch's (Mantua, NJ) goal against UMass-Lowell on Oct. 16, becoming the first set of brothers to record a point on a CC goal since March 9, 2012 (Jaden and Rylan Schwartz). The two combined again on Dec. 5 as Trey assisted on Cody's second-period goal against Miami. That was the first time a CC player assisted on his brother's goal since March 2, 2012 (Rylan assisted on Jaden's goal).

On The Road For a While
The Tigers played 12 of their first 16 games at home and will not play again at The Broadmoor World Arena until Jan. 29, 2016. In fact, 14 of the first 16 games were played in the state of Colorado, including road games at Denver and Air Force.

Consecutive GWG a Rare Feat
Fejes' back-to-back game-winning goals against Miami were the first by a Tiger since Nick Dineen posted the GWG in each game of a series sweep against Wisconsin on  Nov. 18-19, 2011.

Scoring Has Picked Up Last Six Games
Entering the game against Air Force on Friday, Nov. 27, Colorado College had 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points in 12 games. In the last six games, CC has 18 goals and 27 assists for 45 points. Seven of the team's 12 power-play goals have come in the last six games as well.

Nehama Records Most Saves in 18 Years
Nehama's 52 saves at UMass-Lowell on Oct. 16 were the most in one game by a CC goalie since Judd Lambert made 60 in a four-overtime victory (1-0) over Wisconsin on March 8, 1997.

Tough Schedule This Year
Seven of Colorado College's 12 opponents this season are ranked in this week's USCHO.com Top 20 poll, including five that are ranked in the top eight. Five of the nine teams CC has already played, North Dakota (#2), Boston College (#4), UMass-Lowell (#8), Denver (#17) and Minnesota Duluth (#19), are all ranked in the top 20 this week.
