Hunter Fejes scored twice in the third period to give Colorado College a come from behind 2-1 victory over Miami University Friday night at The Broadmoor World Arena. The Tigers, winners of two straight games for the first time since January, won their first NCHC contest of the season and improved to 2-13-0 overall and 1-6-0 in the league.

After a scoreless first period, Kiefer Sherwood put Miami on the board at the 10:49 mark of the second frame with a slapshot from the point that beat CC goalie Jacob Nehama. Nehama did not give up another goal the rest of the night, posting his second straight victory with 20 saves and a career-best one goal allowed.

"We felt pretty good after 40 minutes," head coach Mike Haviland said. "Things were very positive in the locker room."

Midway through the third period, junior Luc Gerdes forced a Miami turnover just outside the RedHawk blue line that created a 2-on-0 with Fejes against Miami goalie Ryan McKay. Fejes collected the puck at the blue line and fired a wrister past McKay's stick side from the slot to even the score with 9:55 left in the final period with his third goal of the campaign.

CC kept up the pressure the rest of the period and it paid off when Gerdes won a faceoff deep in the Tiger zone and flipped the puck ahead to senior Sam Rothstein, who took it into the Miami end and found Fejes flying down the slot. The senior from Anchorage, Alaska finished the play with another wrister to the stick side of McKay for the third two-goal game of his career and a 2-1 lead with just 2:46 remaining in regulation.

Miami (5-8-2, 2-6-1-1 NCHC) pulled McKay for the final 26 seconds and Fejes had two chances for the hat trick but one was just wide and the other blocked as CC won consecutive games for the first time since defeating UConn (4-1) and Nebraska Omaha (4-3) on Jan. 6 and Jan. 16, 2015.

"It was great to see what Hunter did tonight," Haviland said." All of our upperclassmen are stepping up and it was fun to see us come from behind."

Neither team converted on the power play Friday night. Miami was 0-for-3 while the Tigers had two opportunities. CC finished the game with 33 shots and allowed just 21, equaling a season-low by an opponent (UMass in the season opener).

"We were very happy to give up only five shots in the third period," Haviland said. "We can see the confidence growing in everyone on the team."

The same two teams will play Saturday, Dec. 5 beginning at 6 p.m.
