Korbyn Ukasick led the Colorado College women's basketball team with a season-high 15 points, but that wasn't enough as the Tigers fell, 68-56, to Whittier College in their final game of the UC Santa Cruz December Classic on Saturday in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Ukasick shot 6-of-16 from the floor and also led the team with seven rebounds and a career-high five assists.

Katie Wirth also scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Torbet also added four assists and four rebounds, while Wirth dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds. Â

CC and Whittier were tied, 14-14, after the first quarter of action when junior
Christina Bowman hit a layup 51 seconds into the second quarter to give the Tigers the slight edge. The Poets struck back when Tarryn Clark made a free throw to help ignite an 11-1 run.

CC pulled to within three points when Wirth dished a pass to Ukasick, who hit a shot from long range at the buzzer to cut Whittier's lead to 32-29 at halftime.

Katie Waters each hit a layup after the Poets' Priscilla Rodriquez drained a three pointer to begin the third quarter to close the gap to 35-33 with 7:21 remaining in the quarter.

That was as close as CC would get as Whittier went on a 15-9 run to take a 50-42 lead after 30 minutes of play.

Rodriguez led the Poets (1-2) with 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the floor, while Carly Buechler and Ana Youngblood added 13 and 10 points respectively. Youngblood also added nine rebounds to lead the team on the boards.

Colorado College (1-7) returns home as it takes on Johnson & Wales University at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Reid Arena.
