Last Time Out
Seventh-ranked Miami swept Colorado College, 3-1 and 2-1 last weekend at The Broadmoor World Arena ... On Friday, Miami scored three unanswered goals after CC sophomore Luc Gerdes (Eden Prairie, MN) opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal at the 6:19 mark of the first period off a rebound from a shot by Matt Hansen (St. Cloud, MN). Miami answered just 26 seconds later as Cody Murphy deflected an Anthony Louis shot from the slot past CC netminder Tyler Marble (Detroit, MI) for a power-play goal. Riley Barber and Justin Greenberg scored for Miami in the second and third period, respectively ... On Saturday, Miami scored two power-play goals and CC had a goal waved off midway through the third period. Louis Belpidio and Sean Kuraly scored on the power play for the RedHawks, but senior Scott Wamsganz (Anchorage, AK) cut the lead in half with a power-play goal of his own with 53 seconds remaining in the second period. It looked as though the Tigers tied things up with 9:05 remaining in the third period when Cody Bradley (Tampa, FL) knocked home a rebound. However, after a lengthy review, the goal was waved off for goaltender interference by Hunter Fejes (Anchorage, AK). Jaccob Slavin (Erie, CO) assisted on both goals and Marble had 31 saves each night.

Up Next
The Tigers play their final home games of the season against Western Michigan on Feb. 27-28. CC's six seniors will be honored in a ceremony prior to Saturday's game.

Tigers Need Two to Retain the Gold Pan
Colorado College needs to win both games this weekend to retain the pretigious Gold Pan. Denver has won both games so far this season, but CC would retain the trophy if the series is tied after the four games ... Established by former head coaches Don Lucia of Colorado College and Frank Serratore of Denver back in 1993-94, the Gold Pan has been awarded every season since to the team that prevails in the regular-season series between CC and Denver. In the event of an even split of the four games, the team currently in possession of the trophy keeps it. This season marks its 22nd anniversary. The Tigers have hoisted the hardware 12 times in its 21 previous years of existence.

For the Record
Colorado College, in eighth place in the NCHC, is 5-21-1 overall and 1-16-1-0 in the NCHC this season following its losses to Miami last weekend … Denver is 16-10-2 and 9-8-1-1 in league play after losing and tying at North Dakota last weekend. The Pioneers, who are in fifth place in the NCHC with 29 points, won the shootout at UND on Saturday.

The Coaches
Mike Haviland (Elmira College, '90), who is in his first season at the helm of the Tigers, came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Jim Montgomery (Maine, '93) is in his second season as head coach at Denver. He spent the previous three seasons as head coach and general manager of the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL. Montgomery is Maine's all-time leading scorer with 301 points (103g, 198a).

All-Time Series
CC and DU have played each other 296 times since the rivalry began on Jan. 6, 1950. Denver leads by a 163-116-17 margin overall, but CC has won or tied 26 of the last 38 meetings dating back to the 2005-06 season, going 17-12-9 against DU since then, including a 5-4-1 mark in the last 10 contests. Earlier this season, the Pioneers defeated CC, 8-1, on Nov. 14 in Denver and 3-0 on Feb. 6 in Colorado Springs.

Scouting the Opposition
Freshman Danton Heinen leads the Pioneers and the NCHC with 31 points (10g,21a). Sophomore Trevor Moore and senior Joey LaLeggia follow with 29 (13g,14a) and 27 (10g,17a) points, respectively. Sophomore Evan Cowley and freshman Tanner Jaillet have split time in the net this season. Cowley leads the duo with a 2.11 goals-against average and .926 saves percentage, while Jaillet is at 2.12 and .923.

Tiger Tidbits
Gerdes scored the first shorthanded goal of his career Friday night ... It was the second shorty for the Tigers this season as Fejes scored one in the second game of the season against Alabama-Huntsville on Oct. 11 ... Slavin has 12 points (3g,9a) in his last 12 games ... Freshman defenseman Teemu Kivihalme (Savage, MN) had a career-high five shots on goal Friday ... After posting the third-best power-play percentage in the country (32.1%) during the month of January, CC is 1-9 in February ... Senior Charlie Taft (Edina, MN) tied his career high with seven shots on goal Saturday night ... Senior captain Peter Stoykewych (Manitoba, Winnipeg) had four blocked shots Saturday and is tied for the NCHC lead with 57 this season ... CC has the fifth-toughest schedule in the country, according to the Division I RPI.

Bradley Continues to Lead CC in Scoring
Bradley has recorded at least one point in 16 of CC's 27 games and leads the team in goals (8), assists (14) and points (22). All three totals are career-highs and he has a team-high six of CC's 21 multi-point games this season.

Just Outside Top 20 in Power Play
Colorado College is 23rd in the country (59 teams) with a power-play success rate of 18.6 percent (19-for-102) this season. The Tigers, who went 5-of-52 (9.6 percent) and were ranked second-to-last in the nation with a man advantage after their first 11 games, are 14-for-50 (28 percent) in their last 16 contests. CC posted the third-best PP percentage in the country at 32.1 percent (9-for-28) during the month of January.

Marble Rolling Along
Marble has started the last seven games and 10 of the team's 12 outings so far in 2015. He opened the New Year with a career-high 48 saves on Jan. 3 against Providence, the most by a CC goalie since Josh Thorimbert had 50 in a 2-2 draw at Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 7, 2014. Marble then turned away 23 of 24 shots in CC's 4-1 victory at UConn on Jan. 6 before saving 26 shots in the 4-3 upset over No. 7 Nebraska Omaha on Jan. 16. In his last seven games, Marble has a 3.30 goals-against average and a .900 saves percentage.

Several Career-Highs Already This Season
In addition to Bradley, six other Tigers have posted a career-high number of points this season. They are Wamsganz (14), Gerdes (six), Hansen (five), Zach Aman (five), Christian Heil (three) and Michael King (one).
