Jonny Brodzinski scored twice and assisted on Joey Benik's goal during the penalty while Kalle Kossilla assisted on all three tallies. Jaccob Slavin (Erie, CO) scored the game's only goal in the third period with a blast from the right point during a power play at the 11:03 mark for his third goal of the season. Teemu Kivihalme (Savage, MN) and Cody Bradley (Tampa, FL) assisted on the play ... On Saturday, Brodzinski again notched two goals and an assist and Ethan Prow had three assists for the second consecutive game as the Huskies captured a 6-1 decision. Up Next
The Tigers stay at home for a two-game series against Miami University at The Broadmoor World Arena on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14.

Quest to Retain the Gold Pan Continues
Established by former head coaches Don Lucia of Colorado College and Frank Serratore of Denver back in 1993-94, the Gold Pan has been awarded every season since to the team that prevails in the regular-season series between CC and Denver. In the event of an even split of the four games, the team currently in possession of the trophy keeps it. This season marks its 22nd anniversary. The Tigers have hoisted the hardware 12 times in its 21 previous years of existence, including last season.

For the Record
Colorado College, in eighth place in the NCHC, is 5-18-1 overall and 1-13-1 in the NCHC this season following its two losses to St. Cloud State last weekend … Denver is 15-9-1 and 8-7 in league play after a split at home against Minnesota Duluth last weekend. DU is in fifth place in the NCHC with 24 points.

The Coaches
Mike Haviland (Elmira College, '90), who is in his first season at the helm of the Tigers, came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Jim Montgomery (Maine, '93) is in his second season as head coach at Denver. He spent the previous three seasons as head coach and general manager of the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL. Montgomery is Maine's all-time leading scorer with 301 points (103g, 198a).

All-Time Series
The teams have played each other 295 times since the rivalry began on Jan. 6, 1950. Denver leads by a 162-116-17 margin overall, but CC has won or tied 26 of the last 37 meetings dating back to the 2005-06 season, going 17-11-9 against DU since then, including a 5-3-2 mark in the last 10 contests. The Pioneers defeated CC, 8-1, earlier this season in Denver.

Scouting the Opposition
Freshman Danton Heinen leads the Pioneers and is tied for fifth in the NCHC with 26 points (9g,17a). Sophomore Trevor Moore and senior Joey LaLeggia follow with 24 (11g,13a) and 22 (9g,13a) points, respectively. Sophomore Evan Cowley and freshman Tanner Jaillet have split time in the net this season. Cowley leads the duo with a 2.05 goals-against average and .927 saves percentage, while Jaillet is at 2.14 and .920.

Bradley Continues to Lead CC in Scoring
With an assist against St. Cloud State last Friday night, Bradley has recorded at least one point in 15 of CC's 24 games and leads the team in goals (8), assists (13) and points (21). All three totals are career-highs and he has a team-high six of CC's 21 multi-point games this season.

Tiger Tidbits
All three of Slavin's goals this season have come on the power play ... Slavin, Rothstein and senior Aaron Harstad (Stevens Point, WI) are tied for the team lead and 11th in the NCHC with three power-play goals ... Senior Scott Wamsganz (Anchorage, AK) had his career-high five-game point streak snapped Friday night ... Bradley has eight points (1g,7a) in his last eight games ... CC did not have a power-play opportunity for the first time this season last Saturday ... Bradley leads the team in scoring in conference games only with 12 points (3g,9a) ... Bradley and fellow junior Hunter Fejes (Anchorage, AK) each have a team-high five points (3g,2a) in his career vs. Denver ... Kivihalme is second in the NCHC among freshmen defensemen with four goals and fourth with eight points.

Still Top 20 in Power Play
Despite the team's 1-6 performance on the power play last weekend, Colorado College remained 20th in the country (59 teams) with a success rate of 19.35 percent (18-for-93) this season. The Tigers, who went 5-of-52 (9.6 percent) and were ranked second-to-last in the nation with a man advantage after their first 11 games, are 13-for-41 (31.7 percent) in their last 13 contests. In addition, CC posted the third-best PP percentage in the country at 32.1 percent (9-for-28) during the month of January, behind Michigan (40%) and Boston University (37.5%).

Penalty Kill Numbers Getting Better

In addition to the improvement in the power play, CC's other special teams unit has been equally outstanding as of late. After allowing 12 power play goals in their opponents' first 39 chances (69.2 percent) over the first nine games, the Tigers have given up just 11 in the last 60 penalty kill situations (81.7 percent). CC is currently ranked 49th in the nation, killing 76.8 percent (76-of-99).

Several Career-Highs Already This Season
In addition to Bradley, six other Tigers have posted a career-high number of points this season. They are Wamsganz (13), Zach Aman (five), Luc Gerdes (five), Matt Hansen (four), Christian Heil (three) and Michael King (one).
