Box Score Amelia Mouw and the Colorado College volleyball team came out strong to begin the 2015 season with a 3-0 sweep of Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday evening in Reid Arena.

Mouw, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, led the team with 11 kills on 19 attempts with only one error. The sophomore outside hitter also picked up five digs defensively.

The Wildcats held a 16-14 lead midway through the first set, but a kill by Mouw gave the Tigers the side out. With a strong serving run by senior
Courtney Birkett, CC went on an 8-0 run to take command of the set.
Birkett orchestrated the offense with 20 assists, adding five kills and a team-high two service aces. Sophomore
Sarah Barker added 12 assists to aid the Tigers.

CC dominated during the second set as it held Johnson & Wales to a match low -.071 hitting percentage. The Tigers forced the Wildcats into nine attack errors, while giving up only seven kills.

Glenna Yancey came out strong in the final set combining on three straight blocks to give CC an early 5-1 lead. The Sophomore middle hitter had a hand on four blocks to lead the Tigers at the net.

Colorado College, ranked 15th in the AVCA preseason poll, improved to 1-0 on the season while the Wildcats dropped to 0-1.
CC resumes action this weekend when it hosts the Colorado College Classic on Friday and Saturday in Reid Arena. The Tigers begin the tournament against Franklin College at 3 p.m. on Friday.
