The Colorado College men's tennis team opened its 2015-16 season this weekend at the CSU-Pueblo Invitational in Pueblo, Colo. The Tigers dropped both of their matches, falling to CSU-Pueblo, 6-3, on Friday and to Texas-Permian Basin, 8-1, on Saturday.
 
CC took an early 2-1 lead over CSU-Pueblo after the doubles matches on Friday. Senior Taylor Delehanty and sophomore Brian Chen won the No. 2 doubles match, 9-7, while junior Jack Benham and sophomore Ben Bacher won at No. 3, 8-4.
 
Benham was the only Tiger to win in singles with a dramatic 6-2, 3-6, 1-0(9) victory at the No. 6 spot.
 
On Saturday, freshman Daniel Holland posted CC's lone win with the first victory of his collegiate career. He won the No. 3 match over UTPB's Leo Luna, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0(6).
 
"The match against CSU-Pueblo was as competitive match we have played against them since I have been here," head coach Anthony Weber said. "We have had a bunch of competitive challenge matches in practice and that stress really helped us this weekend."
 
The Tigers are idle for a couple of weeks until they host Midland University on Saturday, Sept. 26 beginning at 9 a.m.
