Box Score 2 The Colorado College volleyball team swept each of its matches during the opening day of the Colorado College Classic in Reid Arena. The Tigers beat both Franklin College and Carleton College in three straight sets.

Senior
Courtney Birkett nearly had a triple-double in each of CC's games on Friday. The right-side hitter had a team-high 15 assists along with 10 kills and nine digs against Franklin, and added a team-high 12 digs along with 19 assists and nine kills in her final match against Carleton.

The Tigers opened the day dominating Franklin, 25-19, 25-18, 25-13. CC hit an outstanding .330 hitting percentage, while holding the Grizzlies to a meager .094 hitting percentage.

Abbe Holtze led the attack with 11 kills in 19 attempts without an error. Senior
Sophie Merrifield anchored the defense with a team-best 23 digs.

In the final match of the day, the Tigers beat Carleton, 25-21, 25-12, 27-25. CC's strong presence at the net contributed to a season-high nine blocks. Sophomore
Glenna Yancey and freshman
Myca Steffey-Bean each had a hand on four blocks apiece.

Yancey helped give CC the victory in the final set, with the match tied at 25-25, the middle hitter combined with
Aria Dudley on a block to give the Tigers the slight 26-25 edge.

The Knight's Katie Tritschler sent an over pass on Steffey-Bean's serve, but Yancey was at the net to get the kill for match point.

Freshman
Reagan Folaron led the Tigers with 13 kills. Sophomore
Sarah Barker coordinated the offense with a team-high 20 assists, while Holtze contributed with 11 digs on defense. Â

Colorado College (3-0) continues action on Saturday finishing the CC Classic against the University of Dubuque and the University of Texas at Tyler. Â
