Shatzer, who entered the game at the start of the final frame, made eight saves after filling in for freshman
Jacob Nehama, who allowed four goals in a period and a half, and junior
Tyler Marble.

"It was nice to see Derek go in and do a great job," Colorado College head coach
Mike Haviland said. "Good things happen to those that work hard."

Not many good things happened to the Tigers Saturday night as Omaha scored twice in the first 6:14 and never looked back. Jordan Klehr opened the scoring at the 4:48 mark and Luc Snuggereud added a power-play tally just 1:26 later.

"They turned it up tonight and we didn't match it," Haviland said. "We have played pretty well the last two months but we can't exhale after Friday."

The Mavericks added four goals in the second period, including one by Mason Morelli, who finished the game with one goal and two assists. Teammate Ian Brady had three helpers on the evening.

Hunter Fejes scored CC's lone goal with 1:08 left in the second period, his team-high 12
th goal of the season. Freshmen
Tanner Ockey and
Nate Kwiecinski assisted on the play.

The Mavericks were 2-for-6 on the power play, but did not convert five minutes with a man advantage against Shatzer in the third period. The Tigers were shut out in their three power-play opportunities.

Evan Weninger made 11 saves for Omaha as the Tigers attempted a season-low 12 shots on goal.

Colorado College heads back out on the road next weekend for a series at Minnesota Duluth, Feb. 5-6.
