Colin White scored a pair of goals and added an assist Friday to lead 10th-ranked Boston College past Colorado College, 4-1, at the Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

White scored once in each of the first two periods as the Eagles improved to 3-2 in their home opener. The Tigers fell to 1-4 and will travel to Durham, N.H., to face New Hampshire Saturday night.

Colorado College freshman Nick Halloran opened the scoring with a power-play goal at the 5:30 mark of the first period. Junior Teemu Kivihalme started the play and freshman Branden Makara found Halloran, who fired a wrister from the left circle past BC goalie Ryan Edquist, who made his first collegiate appearance.

The Eagles fought back with a pair of power-play goals of their own before the end of the first period. White scored BC's first PPG of the season by poking the puck from just in front past CC netminder Alex Leclerc at the 6:36 mark, then Casey Fitzgerald beat Leclerc top shelf with just 1:40 left in the first.

Jesper Mattila and White scored in the second period to give the Eagles a 4-1 advantage after 40 minutes. White's second goal of the game, on a breakaway, came at the 12:51 mark and chased Leclerc from the contest. Senior Derek Shatzer took over at that point and made nine saves in 27 minutes and neither team scored the rest of the way.

BC took advantage of special-team play Friday, converting twice on six power-play opportunities and killing eight of nine penalties.

"We played with them when it was 5-on-5 tonight," head coach Mike Haviland said. "We just need to stay out of the box and be more productive on our power play. (Nick) Halloran played well tonight, he has some offensive abilities and has increased his compete level for us."

Boston College held a 34-24 advantage in shots for the game. White led all players with seven, while Halloran paced the Tigers with five. Edquist finished the game with 23 saves, while Leclerc made 21 in just under 33 minutes.
