Wyoming Prevails In Defensive Battle

Box Score Offensive opportunities were had to find, but the University of Wyoming took advantage of the few that it had and dealt Colorado College a 2-0 setback on Sunday afternoon at the Madrid Sports Complex.

The Tigers launched all four of their shots in the second half, but only sophomore midfielder Clara Richter was able to put one on target.

Meanwhile, the Cowgirls managed only eight shots, but two of the three they put on frame found the net.

Wyoming broke through in the 21st minute when freshman forward Michaela Stark sent a shot to the top shelf off of a cross from senior defender Katie Marcheso.

The Cowgirls added an insurance goal with 25 minutes to play when junior defender Alisha Bass headed home a corner kick from senior defender Sammi Dunda.

Junior goalkeeper Louisa Mackenzie made one save for CC, which now is 7-7-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the Mountain West.

Georgia Rountree stopped on shot for Wyoming.

Colorado College opens a three-game home stand when the University of Nevada and UNLV visit Stewart Field on Friday, Oct. 14, and Sunday, Oct. 16, respectively.
